5 Year Anniversary

We made it to the five year mark, and we are still going strong and so much in love! :) We went out for some fast food dinner to the local mall food court. It was delicious. We are heading out camping this weekend to celebrate. We are planning on heading up near Harrison and leave when I come home from work. I already have a terrible head cold as I am stuffed up and I have major sinus pain. Though nothing is going to stop me from enjoying our anniversary.

We exchanged gifts last night, he bought me a pair of beautiful earrings. I have not owned a pair of good earrings in years, not to mention I have not changed my earrings in at least 6 or more years. I will post a picture of them on flickr. I bought Bryan a floater coat so he can finally have his own when we go up to the cabin. He loves it, though we might exchange it for a larger size.

I am going to head out and start getting ready for work. I am excited as my boss is buying us a Sushi lunch today, as it is also her wedding anniversary on the weekend.

Sad News: My brother and his fiancée broke up. I do not know the details, as the break up is fresh. I am going to give my brother some time before asking questions as to what happened. They had been together for at least 6 years and became engaged last September on my birthday.

Mario Kart (Wii)

Last night Bryan had texted me “I know something you do not know” of course that meaning, he bought me a present. I phoned him when I got off work and sure enough he keeps rambling on how he got me a present and that he wants to give it to me. This is an anniversary gift as our five year is in two weeks. Bryan keeps being is stupid self rubbing in the fact how he got me a present and that he likes to watch me squirm in anticipation. In the middle of his shenanigans towards me, I had out of him that it was something small enough to fit inside the toilet, yet something only a few of my friends would be envious/jealous of, and also something that “could” go camping. What great hints those are huh?

Anyways, he heads into the bedroom and claims he is going to go and get it, so I can open it. He comes out with the box for my snowboarding helmet. I slowly open the box only to find my Heroes Season 1 Boxset. I toss it back at him and call him a nerd and a loser. He then gets up all sneaky and claims that he is going to go and get the real thing now. He goes back into the bedroom and comes back with the same helmet box. I shake it. It sounds like a large book. I start claiming that it must be my Harry Potter and the half blooded prince. I shake it around and I happened to get a glimps of the insides though a small hole in the side of the box. I saw Mario Kart logo! I kept up not knowing, refusing to open the box as he was being such a tease and a prick to me. I thought about getting up and tossing the whole box outside in the rain in protest to his shenanigans. I was just to lazy.

I opened up the box and ta-da. Mario Kart and an extra steering wheel! We promptly put it in and began playing. It is such a cool game. Especially the online play, and also the fact that there are some classic Mario Kart levels to race and battle in.

Earth Day

Happy Earth Day Everyone!

I am typically not a preacher of Earth Day. Just I have been thinking and noticing my own changes in my ways recently. It is just all these advertisments pushing towards saving our planet, and being eco friendly is really starting to get the best of me. I am not a tree hugging organic veggen hippie by any means, but I certainly know how to do my three R’s. Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling. I have been for years, ever since I was little I have had this all drilled into me.

Recently I have noticed the amount of plastic bags stashed away under my sink. I have now vowed to do something about it. Switch to reusable bags, or use no bags at all. There really has to be some way of reusing those bad boys, besides using them as garbage bags. Does anyone know of any creative ways to reuse them?

I try and only buy my food that is locally grown and raised. B.C. meat, local produce. Also keeping to sticking with local seasonal veggies and fruits. I would love to have my own vegetable garden, but my thumbs are not green enough to keep them living long enough. I wash all my clothing in cold water to cut down on energy, along with trying to line dry/hang dry most of my clothes. I participate in my cities blue box recycling program, even though there are lots of items that the city does not allow us to recycle. I collect my pop/liquor bottles until it is nearly overwhelming and return the empties so I can get a larger payout! I also turn my computer off every night, along with all of our lights, as well as turning down or off the heat.

As a women I have even switched over to a reusable method of feminine hygiene product. I use the DivaCup. What made me switch was the fact that over 14 billion pads, tampons and applicators are going into North American landfills every year. It’s a small but important way of taking personal responsibility for a massive environmental problem.

I can say I am guilty of driving to work when I could so easily walk or ride my bike. This is all going to change in the coming week. I have put air in my bike and it is all set and ready to go. If I rode I would get to work in the same amount of time as if I was to drive. Turns out there is basically a direct bike path that goes all the way to the school I work at from my home.
